Mc Vicar not a bad film just watching it on itv4

Im just watching the film and have to say Roger Daltrey is quite in it. Adam Faith is stealing the film mind you. Im amazed it has not got a better rating?.

Me too, first time which considering it has been out so long is quite something.

It's just a pity that ITV4 are using such a lousy damaged source print. Grainy, green-tinged with age, muddy colours, and in the same incorrect 1.33:1 ratio as the old 80's full screen video version. ITV4 evidently just went with the cheapest basic source print they could lay their hands on.

The Universal DVD version (although not perfect itself) is in the proper 1.1:85 anamorphic ratio, with much better colours and enhanced image definition. The DVD engineers actually took the trouble to digitally restore the movie from the best existing film materials.

The clincher is that with the DVD version you don't have that sodding ITV4 logo hovering in the top left corner of the screen throughout the movie.

Not only is that itv4 logo annoying, but adverts in a film generally annoy the *beep* out of me, BUT especially the fact that it was those stupid *beep* 118 118 adverts SPONSORING the film made the adverts even more unbearable.

GREAT GREAT GREAT film though. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and wasn't aware of how good an actor Roger Daltrey was until I watched this. 9/10

Yes, I saw it too. They've switched to using a different source print. Anamorphic and with improved colour and definition. The ropey old pan-and-scan print that they were using for digital Freeview screenings over the last couple of years really was a shambles. At least somebody at ITV4 has taken the trouble to replace it. The Digital Onscreen Graphic (or 'logo' to most people) is unfortunately a fixture on all their broadcasts, and will remain so for as long as the channel's policy remains.

It's getting another run on ITV 4 so I DVD'eoed it.
Good quality print and stereo sound.
The first time I've seen McVicar and really enjoyed it and the thumping soundtrack. The film was a lot better than I'd thought it would be and what I'd been told.
Good solid performances especially from Roger Daltry, Adam Faith and the delicious Cheryl Campbell.
