This movie or the 2012 remake?
Which Maniac movie do you prefer the 1980 original or the 2012 remake? I've only seen the 1980 original I haven't seen the remake yet so I can't really say which one I like better.

shareCompletely agree, Captain. I am someone who is usually dead against remakes and I sometimes get really upset over them but I have to say that I put off seeing Maniac for a long time because I figured it would be the typical, horrible remake but wow, it was quite good.
I really don't even have any major criticisms. Perhaps the only one tiny thing I could complain about is that we never really see the Maniac act completely normal and one of my favorite things about the original is that we see him behaving normally and even being charming and seemingly confident and comfortable with the woman he likes. I thought that was pretty cool but in this one even when he's kinda behaving normally he still melts down due to his migraines or whatever. Not a big deal at all though. In a way it's probably even more realistic.
Good acting, awesome soundtrack, fantastic makeup effects--really top notch movie, remake or not.
