Is Umberto Lenzi completely out of touch with reality?

From the interview with Umberto Lenzi on the DVD of Eaten Alive, he claims that the stolen footage of Me Me Lai's gutting in the movie was like less than a second total running time. Is he completely out of touch with reality?

Has he even seen his own movie? The scene is obviously longer than even a whole second. And what about the rest of the footage he swiped from other movies, like the castration scene? How does he justify that?

I saw Eaten Alive before I'd seen any other cannibal movie. So, it wasn't until later that I realized how much was lifted from other movies. It's changed my opinion of Eaten Alive. I liked it more before I knew of the shortcuts. I still like the film, actually :) but my opinion has sure changed of it since I learned.

And some of the new footage doesn't even match up. Before they cut off Me Me Lai's head, she's got a wound over one of her breasts. Or at least blood. When they cut off her head, the wound/blood is gone because it was never there in the original footage! :)
