Exploding throat scene

This scene transcends the typical cinematic 'death by gunshot'. It's utterly disgusting and amazing, regardless of how many times i watch it. Does anyone else agree?

I'm a big fan of Fulci, with Zombie Flesh-Eaters and City of the Living Dead being my two outright favourites of his. I haven't seen Contraband but plan to as I've heard much about it, and some of its more brutal scenes. The last Fulci flick I bought, but have yet to watch, is Don't Torture A Duckling.

contraband is a classic!!brutal in the extreme.one of my favorite fulci films.

"I'm a man who only likes the best, you get it? Caviar and Champagne!"... and shot right on cue. Even the paper-machet head explosion of the dying mobster who causes the throat explosion looks pretty good. This could have been an absolute classic had they been able to maintain the energy of these bizarre gore scenes a little longer or put it more often into the film. Fulci certainly had a sense of humor with the OTT gore in his movies, though there's not quite enough of it or it's played too straight due to translation issues to put it into Peter Jackson-style hilarious lunacy.

For anyone who has not seen this, just imagine Fulci doing his one and only crime film here. The gun shots are devastating to whomever is hit and the camera lingers over the wounds, as is his norm in horror. This is not the best euro crime film, but it is interesting and there’s no mistaking who directed it.
