First off, the movie takes place at SUMMER CAMP so putting Ashton Kutcher (who is now in his mid to late 20's) is preposterous. Also, this film is kind of dirty and angsty and sexual, which Hilary Duff wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Here's my concept:

Angel: Nikki Reed
Ferris: Danielle Panabaker/Evan Rachel Wood
Gary: Matt Dillon
Randy: Emile Hirsch/Sean Faris
Cinder: Ashlee Simpson (in a decidedly smaller role)

maybe it would be fun with hilary duff and lindsay lohan. or at least i think it would be fun to watch them get into cat fights. i can't stand either of them

i agree, i'm sick of remakes in the first place. even a good remake, i'm just sick of it. besides, the original's good enough.

even in just having fun thinking who would be who, i can't think of anyone young enough that i'd like.

AMEN! I agree with you 100% on that. If anybody ever tried to remake any 80's movie, I would try and hunt them down, but this movie especially. And Linsay Lohan with Hilary Duff? DISASTER! THEY ARE BOTH IDIOTS WHO CANNOT ACT. I suppose they can sing a little, but Hilary is annoying and Lindsay is a whore.

I agree with u 100%.....just got the import dvd from EBAY, and watched with my 13 yr old daughter she loved it. I have been buying all Matt Dillon films 1 by 1 and she has enjoyed them all. She agrees that today's movies are not as good as some she has been seeing with me, and she loves Duff/Lohan. I also agree that most of the named actors would not be good for remake and after Bad News Bears I am a little tired of remakes myself.

I think Evan Rachel Wood would be an awesome Angel. She has such a sweet face, but can do some really deep roles, like when she did the movie Thirteen.
Gary would absolutely have to be played by Matt Dillon (it would be a great tribute to the original, like Burt Reynolds doing the remake of The Longest Yard..even though it wasn't as good as I thought it would be, he was great in it.)
Ferris would have to be played by Caitlin Wachs (played little Vivi in Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, she's also in Commander in Chief on NBC)

WHy mess with a classic, they'll just ruin it, HOllywood can't even come up with some original ideas for movies, so they keep remaking everything. its horrible!

I totally agree, they should just leave the great classic movies and sitcoms alone, cuz when they try to remake them on most occasions, they turn out to be disasters. Also i highly doubt that Matt would do a remake, even tho it would be cute to see him do the older role.

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm renting it tonight, but emile hirsch ids that good boy that you could fall in love with. I think I'll watch the movie fist and then figure out who would be good in a remake if a remake would be good at all. The rest of you are rigth though, Duff and Lohan are A) Whores, B) Too "goodie two shoes" to do it (well duff is) C) there are so many other actresses that would be tonz better than those two.

I really would like to see a remake, but I agree that it would most likely turn into a piece of crap. If it were to be done I would say Carly Schroeder for Ferris, but since everyone here seems to be running with a slightly older cast I'd say Jena Malone as Ferris, Trevor Morgan (from Mean Creek) as Randy, and I like the idea of Michelle Tractenburg as Angel. I don't know I think the majority of the roles would be best filled by unknowns.

Why remake it? The original was funny and portrayed something we all go through. A remake would totally ruin it. Everyone on this board is saying,, OOhhhh hilary duff!!! Lindsay lohan!!!!!! OMG!!! SHUT UP

Reasons NOT to remake it/ put any famous actresses in it

1. The original was excellent. To remake it would be synonomous to ruining it. Remakes, in general, are terrible. Im not saying there are no good remakes, which there are, but a general rule of thumb is that remakes and sequels are crap.

2. Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, America Fererra, Evan Rachel Wood, Alexis Bledel, are TOO OLD!!!! The girls in this movie are supposed to be 14-15 and the above named are all over 18. God. I despise casting older people to play much younger roles, like Dawson's Creek. And many many other movies.

3. Unknowns would be soo much better. They could get a younger, talented actress to play each character.

But, I am still against the remake. I mean, if moviemakers cannot think of new ideas, don't make a movie. Most of the movies out are either remakes or based on a true story/book.

I think that if Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan made a remake of this movie, I'd get nauseous and throw up all over myself.

Here's a thought:

Why doesn't some Hollywood screenwriter write an ORIGINAL screenplay, instead of remaking somebody else's work, yet AGAIN, and let that cast star in the movie?
