The Horse stunts looked dangerous!

Was shocked at how dangerous the horse stunts looked.

It looked like explosions happened right under them on a couple of scenes.
Maybe the stunts direction was so skilled that they were not injured?

After the film I watched The Making of Lion of the Desert on the dvd.
The horses were trained for months beforehand for falls, etc.

The special effects were supervised by kit West.

I can't believe that despite the huge effort put in this film it is not as popular as it should be.

"Unfortunately in Europe and Africa these types of productions still get away with the cruel flying-w rigs and then sell the horse meat to the locals for food. It's barbaric. This is why outside the US, film productions are more dangerous in stunts work because of lack of regulation and enforcement of safety & stunt rules. "

The rig was actually known as the "Running W" and no it isn't known to be still in use anywhere, certainly not in the European film industries.
Before anyone gets too smug about the US film industry banning the practice, it was invented by a Hollywood stunt arranger in the first place and used more there than anywhere else.

"Talking about the past usage was purely informational and not accusatory or ment to be slanderous towards anyone. "

"Barbaric" is a strange word to use if you aren't meaning to be accusatory.

You used the present tense when talking about "past usage". Really?

Quit the "poor little victim" act and the transparent diversions. You posted an unpleasant, inaccurate comment and were called on it.

"Do I have to remind you that these contraptions are 'barbaric' in any standard?"

No, but you were calling other countries industries "barbaric" for "STILL" using the Running-W - which is not true. There has been no known use of the Running-W anywhere for over three decades.

You were calling other countries "barbaric" for using it to contrast them with the US when the Running W was invented in the US and used far more extensively in the US than anywhere else. There isn't much moral superiority to be claimed there.

Let me remind you of your original comment:

"Unfortunately in Europe and Africa these types of productions still get away with the cruel flying-w rigs and then sell the horse meat to the locals for food. It's barbaric. "

Provide evidence or give it up.

Just fun in the sun, ain't he? Every thread I've ever seen him on, all the same. Argument, insults and stupidity. That's why he's all alone listening to Barry Manilow and ironing.
