no definitive DVD or blu-ray?

I'd like to clear shelf space eventually but for now I have two DVD's of the same movie... one's in better quality while the other is in the proper aspect ratio.

This film was shot quite beautifully in 2.35:1 but my most recent DVD release from Anchor Bay is cropped to make it 1.77:1. Their old disc from 2000 was in the proper aspect ratio, but only 4x3 and very fuzzy. Does the Blu-ray give us a nice clean 2.35 presentation or is it cropped too? Is there any release yet that really "gets it right"?

The UK Blu-ray by Anchor Bay is unfortunately cropped to 1.77:1 although it does seem to have some extra footage not on the dvd.I emailed Anchor Bay to see if they were going to re-release in the correct ratio but they couldn`t be bothered to reply.2.35:1 remastered Director`s cut would be very nice to own.

That's a shame really, Akkad, who is much better known for producing the American Halloween series was actually a really damn good director. Unfortunate he only made 2 movies, this and The Message (though technically 3 if you count Al-risalah). I hope it gets restored one day.

I saw the new 4k UHD last night. The AV quality blew me away.
