Modern Swiss Family Robinson?

The parallels are there. People stranded on an island & trouble shows up. They get resourceful and we have a happy ending. Both films are great for families. Your thoughts?

same as yours. I saw this movie when I was 11 and it is still one of my favorites

I saw this when I was really little. I remember I loved it, but I don't have a lot of specific memories of it-except the shark. I remember the shark looking in the window. Scared the crap out of me.

I just saw this movie for the first time since I first saw it back in 1980. I was seven years old. This is a great movie for the family!

One of my favourite movies as a kid. First saw it in the early 90's when I was about 8 or so.

My first passion since as long as I can remember is aviation, and I've been a WWII buff since around the same age... I was (and largely still are) like Christian Bale's character in Empire of the Sun - nutty about planes!

Hence I thought the B-29 was just awesome. In retrospect, even more considering there is only 1 still flying in the world (Fifi).

I really need to buy this DVD. The version I had was copied to a tape by my dad from a VHS rental, and the tape disappeared almost 10 years ago - haven't seen it since!

From what I hear, N29KW (the B-29 used in the movie) is going to be restored to flying condition. It was grounded by the FAA a few years back when corrosion was found after being purchased by a private owner. The cockpit and forward fuselage have been restored and is on display in Florida, while the aft section ,wings, and engines are under restoration in California. Besides the movie, the plane also is famous for carrying the X-1 into flight for launch. I saw the plane some time ago when it was still flying, at an airshow up here in New England. Hot day, it needed every inch of the runway to take off.

A few other B-29s are being rebuilt for flight. If you want to see a really nicely restored example on display, check out the New England Air Museum at Bradley International Airport (Hartford, CT). "Jack's Hack" is almost completly restored and is open to the public for viewing indoors. The plane was rebuilt from the landing gear up after receiving damage from a tornado.
