“Do yourself a favor bucko,” Blake said licking his lips. “Just back the fu*k off. I never said for one second that the rest of you haven’t been though sh*t of your own. You guys need to just stop talking about me behind my back and then storming up to making these declarations about how you know what I’m going though and how I’m not the only one to have gone through something and blah, blah, fu*king blah.” He stepped towards Connor not intimidated in the slightest by the man’s size. “All I did was talk to someone, share like you’re pushing me to do.”
“I didn’t,”
“Shut the fu*k up as*hole.” Blake snarled. “Now, if you’d rather just have me NOT share what comes into my head and keep to myself, that’s just fu*king fine with me. Every time I open my god d*mned mouth you find it necessary to storm up here and tell me off and you know what, I’m sick of it.”
“You wanted a truce, and I agreed but you’re coming d*mn close to getting on my bad side, permantly. Now I’ve been making an effort to play nice, just like you all want me to do and you and Mick,” Blake shook his head taking a step back. “Tell you what, just tell what you want from me. You want me to place nice and talk to everyone and try to be civil and to not be hostile to every, fine. It takes effort, but I can manage it as long as I get the same back and your attitude, walking up here and throwing your sad little story in my face and telling me off… it ain’t the way to do it. You want me to continue to be an as*, well, you’re on the fast path. So I would suggest, before you open your mouth again, to consider my words very carefully.”
Blake grabbed the bottle of wine of the table. “War or peace, bud. It’s your choice. I’ve been trying to peace by I think you and I, we’re on different wavelengths here.”
“I want peace as much as,”
“Bullsh*t,” Blake said with a laugh. “If you wanted peace you wouldn’t have come in here like that. I’m not having a pity party for myself Connor. I want people to feel sorry for me which is why I don’t share how I feel, or what I’m thinking because when I do, when I act like the rest of you and actually TALK about what’s on my mind this is what I get. You all, you know what happened in your pasts, the pain and suffering that you’ve GONE though. Pain that’s in your PAST. This isn’t in my past, this is now for me and it’s what causing me pain now so if it bothers you what I have to say, if it pisses you off that I’m thinking about my own issues then don’t fu*king ask me about them.”
Connor stood up to his full height and took a step towards Blake furious. Where the hell did this guy get the right to tell HIM off?
“You want to hit me, go ahead and try. I might even let you get a few punches in. You think I’m scared of you? You think I’m scared of a little pain? There’s not sh*t that you could do to me that’s going to scare me.” The corner of Blake’s mouth curled up and Connor knew that he was serious and Blake suddenly laughed. “Fu*k it. Fu*k you, fu*k all of you. I thought I might eventually become part of your little group if I made the effort, opened up, shared…. But that’s not going to happen. No matter what I do and no matter what I say,” he shook his head. “If those things break in, I’ll help you out because it’s my skin on the line too but until that point, just keep away from me. Don’t ask me how I am. Don’t ask me if I remember anything, because you’re not going to get sh*t.”
Leaving Connor alone to ponder exactly how wise it had really been to storm up here half cocked and tell Blake off he watched the man walk out of the door on the opposite side of the room. The heavy oak slammed shut hard, the sound echoing through the vaulted ceiling.
-"Uh, when do we get to pick our names and costumes? Because I call dibs on Zach-attack."
