This enemy of Shingen sent a medicine man- priest to do what?? He says "Use Nabukado. The geezer is at loose ends since his own son Shingen banished him". Is it a mistake in the subs or what?? They are brothers, right???

The medicine man was sent to look at "Shingen" a little bit closer, in a bid to see if it was the real Shingen or a double. To decrease the chances that he would be denied access, Nobunaga passed through Nobutora as an alibi for the man.

If Nobukado was in the subtitle, it is indeed a mistake. Nobunaga was refering to Takeda Nobutora, Shingen and Nobukado's father. Shingen had banished his father when he prefered his middle brother Nobushige as successor. He took refuge among the Imagawa in Suruga, then after Imagawa Yoshimoto's death he moved to Shima province under protection of Kitabatake Tomonori.

After his banishment, there were rumors that his mind had started to wander a bit. However, Nobutora was already known to be a temperamental, mercurial, and unstable leader, with an arbitrary style of governing, even when he was Lord of Kai and Shinano. He wasn't liked at all by retainers and people alike. So when he left to visit his sister in Suruga, the future Shingen seized power and told his father not to bother coming back.
