Is it just me?.................. .....

Or do I see one or more similarities to Jonathan Livingston Seagull in the Jazz Singer, other than the music composed by Neil Diamond?

One that I can come up with so far is that a guy (seagull) goes on to fulfill his dream of becoming a famous pop singer (exploring the world by flying).

Anything else????

Definitely.

What about that scene in Jonathon Livingston Seagull where Jonathon dresses up like a pigeon so that he can play in the pigeon bar, but then one of the pigeons in the audience sees his feathers and it nearly causes a riot...?

Good times.

What scene are you talking about? There are no pigeons in JLS. I do agree that they massacred the book when they made a movie about JLS. JLS is more like an allegory to Jesus but Jazz Singer like JLS? I just don't see it and I read the book, saw the movie, have the soundtrack and also saw Jazz Singer, all 3 of them with Al Jolson, Larry Parks, and Neil Diamond. JLS was reviled by the whole flock of thousands. Jesus acquired quite a flock to follow him and he never went to another dimension and neither did Neil Diamond other than Venice Beach and LA. His father reviled him but not his friends. All you are doing with the club scene is transposing it in your mind to JLS and then fantasizing.
