Jayne did that squealing bit in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter, but I'm not altogether sure if she did it as much as Loni did in the movie. It was pretty irritating.
shareJayne squealed in Rock Hunter and Kiss Them For Me. She squealed to a much lesser degree in The Girl Can't Help It and The Fat Spy. Remember, she was doing what her directors told her to do. But what makes the film so....unusual, is Loni as Jayne is squealing in interviews when arriving in Hollywood....Jayne never did that.

I so wanted them to make that movie when I was a kid back in the WKRP day's.
No. Lonnie Anderson made Jayne Mansfield look like an A-hole. She was ridiculously, astoundingly awful as Jayne Mansfield, plus she was a little too old as well. I was mortified at her performance. The real Jayne Mansfield did sometimes do that squealing thing but only in character, as the directors wanted her to do. And when she did it, it actually sounded very cute, and very sincere. Loni Anderson made the squeal sound like a cow giving birth. I really hope that people who are not familiar with the actress, don't watch this movie and think it is an accurate portrayal. It's the furthest thing from that.
