Anne Baxter

I don't feel this was a case of Baxter "sinking low". Granted, the film was low-budget and the end result was muddled, but Merchant-Ivory films have always been perfectly respectable and at least they were attempting Art, even though falling short here. The script was literate and had some interesting ideas. More importantly, Miss Baxter, always a pretty affected actress in my eyes, was perfectly suited to her character and gave quite an effective performance. Sean Young was well cast also, though her character was in need of a good slap.
