I liked this movie

I saw this movie when I was 11 years old but I thought it was very good especially the song, "My Turn." The song fits the movie perfectly.

I liked this movie when it came out in theatres. What happened?

You were lucky to see this in the theater. It seems like I saw it on HBO in the early '80s, but I'd love to see this again to refresh my memory.

I do have the soundtrack on vinyl, though. I love Diana Ross' song, "It's My Turn":
... ain't no use in holding on, when nothing stays the same ...

It was out around Thanksgiving 1980, and I remember they were sneak previewing it with other films.

They gave it an above average release and, to tell you the truth, I really wanted to see it in the worst way. Loved Douglas and Clayburgh as well as Grodin.

Caught it a year later when it played on my college campus, and it was a big thud for me.

Very uneventful. It was like they were trying to pad it out and make it better than it was.

Grodin has absolutely nothing to do and neither does Clayburgh. She does this ballet dance thing, similar to the one she did in AN UNMARRIED, and it happens out of nowhere as if the producer, writer, director and star decided to add a Jill Clayburgh moment.

There was a movie that came out around the same time called SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES, also from Columbia Pictures that works much better. Nothing much happens there, but it's got Goldie Hawn in it, and for my money, not only can she make anything work, but she makes her cast mates shine as well.

Columbia Pictures was making many duds around this time. It was as if they would reteam successful pairs or put two great actors together, only to make this vehicle some kind of dud.

Thanks for the memories. I guess I'm probably off barely remembering this film, but I would love to have the chance to see it again to refresh my memory. Really, all I remember is the theme song sung by Diana Ross, which I love.

"Seems Like Old Times" was a lot of fun, and in hindsight, the early '80s were a very good era for romantic comedies. At least they certainly seemed better than this era.

I watched It's My Turn when I was older. That was years ago.

Loved this movie when it first came out and bought it on Laserdisc!! Hahahaha! I was twenty years old, and loved Jill's character ( and a bearded Mike Douglas too). Now when I see this movie, I hate the whiney, neurotic character, but Jill played her perfectly. She was a fantastic actress- gone way too soon! RIP Jill!
