I met Tom at this years Monsterpalooza, really cool guy. I forgot to ask him then, but I hit him up on Instagram about if he was indeed directing this movie and if so if he could give any updates. This is what he said:
"Things are moving forward. Meeting with production companies now. Hoping shooting later this year. We've got some amazing talent attached."
Sounds very promising and very exciting. Just thought I'd write this for us fellow horror fans

It’s been a long time. The movie seems to be still in production though. Hopefully it will see the day of release.
shareI saw Tom Savini around 4 years ago and he said that unfortunately the remake was dead in the water, and I’m the one saying unfortunately. Savini acted like he could care less about the project.
What do you know that is allowing you to say that it’s still in production? I truly hope your right.
