The blue and red lights

This is SUCH a beautiful film. Exquisite cinematography and lighting and the composition of the shots is superb. For me it is Argento's finest work both technically and artistically.

One thing that leaps out at me is that he lights almost every shot with both a blue and a red key light separated by at least 90 degrees. Anyone care to suggest why he does this?

Indeed this film is like a pretty picture I love looking at. I'm not so into the plot, but it's just so darn beautiful to watch. As for the 90 degree angle thing, I honestly never paid attention to the placement of the lights, their mere presence is what mattered to me. I think this film looks more stunning than Suspiria, which is also a gorgeous film. I also think Tenebre is his third most visually-stunning film but for different reasons.

My God, it's full of stars!

Yes, the aesthetic of the film was beautiful but overall I don't think the story and characters were quite as intriguing as Suspiria.

Burn, witch! Burn, witch! Burn! Burn! Burn!

It's such a shame the current blu-ray's available are from 2007 masters. It needs a new remaster.

The colors are much more muted and faded in this compared to what Suspiria's 4K looks like. This film is almost certainly meant to be bolder and more saturated with superior lighting range.

It's also worrying that the rights may be with Fox who were bought by Disney. The chances of a boutique label getting the rights for this from Disney is very slim. I'd be gutted if this film doesn't get a new and improved home media release at some point.
