the boys and the girls singing...."a boy and a girl". They were the group that sang before Tommy Dee on National Bandstand. Vinnie sings "I believe it can be done". That's at the end of the film. Caesare's first song is "Baby". The song during the opening credits is "Ooh Wee Baby" (i think). Tommy Dee, while still a sax player, sings "Come and get it". Jerry Ryan, the blonde singer, sings "Shelly". And there is song on the soundtrack that is played when the kids are at the gym dance in Rochester. a slow tune, but i'm blanking on the title. sorry. Hope this helps at least.

Come and Get It performed by Nino Tempo, Jamie James, Michael ???, Rex Roberts (played by Tommy Dee's band at the Club Palisade)

[Shelly, not credited (performed by Tommy Dee's band with Johnny Ryan singing lead vocals)]

I Can't Tell sung by Colleen Fitzpatrick (song kids are dancing to before Tommy Dee's number, also sung over closing credits)

Here Is My Love sung by Jesse Frederick (Tommy Dee's number at the kids dance in Rochester, NY)

A Boy And A Girl sung by Sweet Inspirations & London Fog (performed at the Saturday Night Bandstand show before Tommy Dee's number)

Sweet Little Lover sung by Jesse Frederick (Tommy Dee's number at Saturday Night Bandstand)

It's Never Been Tonight Before sung by Peter Gallagher (Caesare's bungled try out at the bar)

Baby sung by Peter Gallagher (Caesare's debut performance)

However Dark the Night sung by Peter Gallagher (Caesare's performance in Memphis)

I Know Where You're Goin' performed by Nino Tempo and the band (played by Tommy Dee's former band at the Club Palisade before Vinnie's debut)

I Believe It Can Be Done sung by Ray Sharkey (Vinnie's debut at the Club Palisade)

Sharkey does a great job on I Believe It Can Be Done. The song deserves to be resurrected.

Jeff Barry is one of the legendary Brill Building songwriters. With wife Ellie Greenwich, he wrote such hits as "Da Do Ron Ron", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Be My Baby", "And Then He Kissed Me", "Chapel of Love", "Leader of the Pack", and "River Deep, Mountain High". After the marriage and partnership broke up, Barry went on to become a producer at A&M records. The soundtrack for The Idolmaker was released by A&M, perhaps thanks to Barry's involvement.
