A Remake?

I heard they are remaking the movie. I don't see why. I mean it's good as it is. I'm a big fan of this movie and I've always said it was an underrated movie. But I don't see what's the point of a remake. You can't modernize it, it would make the movie pointless. If you make a faithful remake, it's pointless, cause the original is good as it is. I just have a bad feeling they'll get some of these young teen idols, like a Justin Beiber. I'm just vary scared what they can do to improve on this movie.

Yes, its been announced that Ryan Gosling is set to star and direct the remake.

reply

Nope he had to turn it down.

from IMDB-

When an actor gets to that point in their career, they often have to say no to certain projects. Gosling has had to do just that, and will not be able to direct and star in MGM's remake of The Idolmaker, at least for now.

Gosling is currently doing pre-productions on Derek Cianfrance's A Place Beyond the Pines. Once that is complete he moves immediately on to Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad, starring with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin for Warner Bros.

In retrospect he should have taken the Idolmaker remake, and passed on that POS Gangster Squad - seriously, did we need another take on Mickey Cohen?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

come on, hollydunce. try somthing, ANYTHING new.

they should remaster this movie and release it on blueray, clean the picture and mix the audio as best they can and call it good. I love the DVD I have - wish it were wide screen and looked better - but another REMAKE? Why does this even need it?
