There were some chase scenes shot downtown by the quarry, on Stephen Street, just north of the railroad tracks. I was three years old when they were filming. My mother and grandmother took me to go watch. We stood just outside Tom's Place (tavern) on the sidewalk. My grandmother had gone across the street to use the bathroom, and as she was on her way back, Steve McQueen grabbed her by the hand and walked her across the street in between takes. What an awesome experience, even for a boy as young as I was. I'll never forget it. I know there's a very recognizable shot of Old Central School - shot from near the train tracks, south up Stephen Street - that appears in the movie. It's been so long since I've seen the film, but I don't remember actually recognizing any other scenes shots in Lemont.
