A great underrated action flick for McQueen

The predominant left-wing a-hole Hollywood critics panned The Hunter from the start and THEY WERE WRONG. The public (the final voice in any movie matter) decided that they loved it! So much for the a-hole Hollywood critics. Suffice it to say that The Hunter is a movie that you like better each and every time you see it. I saw The Hunter for the 1st time on pay cable back in the eighties and I knew the critics had panned it and I probably may have thought to myself after seeing it that it could maybe have been a tad better BUT I could never quite convince myself that this was a bad movie. Eventually after you`ve seen it a number of times you realize that The Hunter is far from being a bad movie and in reality is a very good movie. Everything in the movie works. The action and the humor. This kind of old school approach to an action flick is worth dozens of today`s cgi-dependent garbage which is populated with ladyboys who can`t act and quite frankly have no business in front of a camera at all unless one believes that the rudiments of drama is turning on teen-age girls.

I guess that's what happens to someone who has so many preconceptions. They can convince themselves of anything just to be in the position they feel they should be.

It's a poor movie enlivened by some great stunts and a nice performance from McQ. Nothing more.

I had seen this as a kid and liked it very much. I watched it again last night, and couldn't believe how weak the script was. Also the laughable scenes with the nutjob at the school. Poor film indeed
