Miss Salmon turned out to be a feisty fighter

I'm not kidding. I was truly and deeply impressed by MISS SALMON's stand and fight. Unlike every other horror flick where the young female victim just stands there screaming, Miss Salmon ignored her bikini top being torn off by a gill monster; ignored her bare breasts; picked up a rock and bashed the monster in the head and face. She survived. That's what counts. That whole scene is a posterboard for SELF-DEFENSE mental preparation. When the chips are down and it's life and death, forget about everything, including getting your clothes ripped off. Defending your life is more important. A lot of survival and self-defense experts claim that people are capable of reacting appropriately in such a life and death situation. It's called, getting in touch with your inner caveman, or inner cavewoman.

That is an excellent scene. I also appreciated it how Carol was able to dispatch another of the Humanoids in her own home.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

I'm going to respond to my own post by adding more comments.

MISS SALMON is a poster girl for defending yourself in a life and death situation, no matter what the odds against you. Miss Salmon was working under severe disadvantages. She was almost naked. Her adversary was an inhuman monster with claws and great strength. But still she found courage in her own desperation to pick up a big-enough rock to fight off her assailant long enough to escape. In other words, Miss Salmon, a completely untrained individual, chose to fight like any cornered animal. She had the will to survive, the, 'eye of the tiger'.

Believe this because you'll see it on self-defense videos on YouTube. Miss Salmon did the right thing. She was scared...she was panicked...she was stripped almost naked, but she chose to FIGHT. She picked up an improvised weapon. She used it. She used her improvised weapon just long enough to get away. This is the object in and self-defense situation. Defend yourself as much as necessary in order to ESCAPE. Do not linger around to turn your situation into some kind of duel. A mugging, an ambush, an attempted rape, are not duels of honor. The main objective is ESCAPE, and self-defense exists only to serve that objective. A policeman, a security guard, a bodyguard, a soldier, all operate differently than a civilian. Their job is to stand and fight. You and me, as intended victims, are not expected to do that. If running away is the best defense, do it, assuming you're not with someone who can't run, like a spouse, a child, parent, etc.

In fact staying not only distracts the trained cop/soldier, but can get him hurt/killed, which would also endanger others, & could still have resulted in her getting raped, along with the others.

Still, I think it would have been better if she, & Carol still got raped by one of the other monsters. The idea of only one being born isnt really a good catch for a sequel.

Plus, either having the creature thrusting on top of her, or plowing her from behind, while that interviewer just sits there & continues to report on it raping her would be an awesome scene.
