We need more movies like this.

'Hero At Large' is the type of shamelessly uplifting, feel good movie that sadly doen't seem to get made much these days. I would hope that Hollywood would realize that there is an untapped market for movies that make us feel good and inspire us, particularly in troubled and uncertain times like the present.
'Hero At Large' is also a good New York City movie. It shows how even the grumpiest and most jaded of New Yorkers are ready to shand up and cheer when a geniune hero comes along. This was demonstrated in real life when Big Apple residents embraced their real-life heroes in the dark days after 9/11.
This movie is also a nice tribute to John Ritter.

You may also like the movie "Hero" (1992), with Dustin Hoffman as an unlikely hero.

Sadly, it also shows the flip side of that coin, how easily fickle New Yorkers (and people in general) can be, and how they will turn their back on said hero in a millionth of a second.

Still, I do agree with you, Hollywood has turned their back on the "Feel-Good" genre of film, and that's distressing. Surely if their is room for the crap they put out today, then they can bring back movies like this one.

Yeah, i can go for more movies like this to be made like from the good ol' days.

That's because critics always dismiss feel good movies and give them bad reviews. On this film Roger Ebert said that only yhe simple-minded would like this film, The same critical razing was given to another New york feel-good movie Turk 182. Critics don't like sentimental films and constanley give them bad reviews.

It was already kind of a cliche when it came out. The script was from like the 1950s.

It's almost 10 years since your post, Dave. Times are still troubled, and your sentiment remains salient. I received the DVD for Christmas, and we'll be watching this weekend in our New Hampshire farmhouse.
