People died thanks to this film....

Its true. The incident took place in Goiania September 13, 1987 when a radioactive therapy device was placed under guard at a closed medical facility. A security guard Voudireinão da Silva was posted at the site to guard the device against theft or tampering but took a sick day off to go see this horrible movie with his family. The machine was stolen, and its radioactive source opened and spread around the town many days before being found and contained. Unfortunately there were deaths. This story is chronicled as the Goiania Incident and will be forever ingrained in the nations concsiousness.

Thousands die every day for no reason at all, where's your bleeding heart for them?

Interesting story; for those not in the know, the events took place in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. There were 4 deaths and 249 injuries. Here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goi%C3%A2nia_accident

this horrible movie

Wrong. Yes, it's a madcap misadventure in Latin America, but it was the most all-around entertaining of the Herbie franchise up to this point (the first four movies). Here are details on why it's superior to the previous three IMHO https://moviechat.org/tt0080861/Herbie-Goes-Bananas/5f0b63d8cdff6218d01fb9c8/Herbie-fans-seem-to-look-down-on-this-film-but-I

It's not the movie's fault. And don't they have replacement workers in Brazil?

reply

Yeah, its a bit much to blame the movie for those deaths.
