I thought the character of Pete looked mighty familiar, and sure enough it was Christopher McDonald. What a treat to see him so young!

It's weird, because I recognized him the second he was yelling out the car window, even though he was so much younger than in his more famous roles. Pretty distinct looking guy.

Indeed. Christopher McDonald always had "that look," and i suspect he always will. He's also aging very well.
