Which Chauffeur was scarier?

Which Hearse driver do you think was scarier?

The chauffeur from Burnt Offerings or the driver from The Hearse?

I gotta go with Burnt Offerings.

reply

Absolutely, Burnt Offerings! I saw it in the theatre when it was released, I think I was twelve or so. That guy was the scariest part of the movie!

reply

I agree...the Burnt Offerings chauffeur for sure!

The hearse driver in "The Hearse" was more smarmy than scary.

reply

Yeah, hands down, the chauffeur from Burnt Offerings takes it. He had no lines, only a couple minutes at most of screen time and did almost nothing but smile, yet he was truly horrifying.

I think perhaps the driver from The Hearse was inspired by him, as was the Tall Man. However, the actual appearance of the hearse he drove was pretty scary, but when you see the driver, it kind of kills the mood. It's far more menacing just seeing the vehicle, not knowing if it even has a driver. He just doesn't look that threatening. Anthony James, on the other hand, has always had a rather unusual appearance. Still, I'm glad I'm not the only one to make the comparisson between the two movies.

reply

There's no comparison; Burnt Offerings. And that's saying something since the chauffeur in The Hearse actually tried to kill her a few times and the chauffeur in Burnt Offerings didn't really do anything but grin.

Some choices!

Post is MY OPINION. Don't look for spelling/grammar errors as this isn't a PhD Thesis.

Definitely Anthony James in "Burnt Offerings."

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

reply

Anthony James in "Burnt Offerings" was far and away the scarier of the two.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

The Chauffeur in THE HEARSE - until who we see it is at the end - really isn't SUPPOSED to be the 'scary' part of this film. IMO.

The chauffeur from Burnt Offerings by a light-mile. The chauffeur in this film wouldn't even scare a three-year-old.

Standing there, on a road that leads to anywhere ...

Wouldn't a light-mile just be the same as a mile?
