What kind of car did they use for the hearse ? Was it a Caddy or a Chrysler ? What year ? Was it a converted ambulance ? I've looked at 47-51 cad hearses and none of them have the flush rear fenders and wraparound rear window. It's kinda driving me nuts !
IF YOU HAVE TO ASK ABOUT THE PRICE OF THE UPKEEP,YOU CAN'T AFFORD ONE.
The hearse was a 1953 Packard, with a 327 straight 8 engine. It was of only 266 "professional cars" (a term for hearses and ambulances)built by the Henney Company of Freeport,IL. who built hearse, ambulance and limo bodies exclusively on the Packard chassis.Henney went out of business in 1954,Packard did the same in 1958.
The Hearse was so real. A creepy Funeral Car stalking a young lady. It had something to do with Witch craft. By surprise this hearse came from Hell. Its driver a creepy man with a moustach. This would be scarier on Halloween night.
A friend used to collect old Packards, and Nash's and actually had an old Packard Hearse that he had restored from the ground up. The car drove like a dream, and when people got the occasional ride after a car show they were amazed how smooth it drove. Great craftsmanship as well, totally unlike the cars today.
I know it has been awhile since anyone posted. My great uncle had a Packard Limo and a Rolls Royce. Packards were the 'American Rolls Royce' according to him. Anyone know who the cowboy was at Ramona Corners was played by? He looked familiar, but I can't place him.
