Didn't follow it's own rules....why?

The cop claims this killer hates brides - cuz he was jilted.

If this is so - why then does he kill: the dressmaker, her 2 whorish friends, the professor, etc...

This guy - or should I say the script isn't following it's own rules....

wtf?

"Phil...what are you doing here?"

Probably because those victims were there. Perhaps some (if not all of them) were considered hindrances and he killed them for being in the way - or maybe it was his way of ensuring that there were no witnesses to his crimes. Regardless, he was obviously considering killing Amy while she was in the dress store (otherwise he wouldn't have been there in the first place), only to find himself in a position where he couldn't leave the store without being discovered by the tailor.

In any case, you noted that the cop "claims" the killer hates brides. Since this was a claim, it may or may not mean that brides are the only people the killer hates.

Not absolutely conclusive, but I was thinking the same thing. If you have a killing fetish, I doubt you kill others "just because" they are associated with the object of your attention.

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

The one cop does saying something like "he's been leaving a trail of bodies" so I think maybe after just killing brides-to-be he got a taste for it and began killing anyone associated with the bride/wedding. Most likely just lazy writing though.
