I LOVE this movie

I'm still surprised that people hate it so much. I found it several years back in a bargain bin for $3.00 and had never heard of it, and it's been a favorite of mine ever since.

The atmosphere just gets to me— the Staten Island fall setting is just great, and the film is well paced and a bit idiosyncratic as far as slasher films go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all can see the "Halloween" influence, and it's definitely an oddball of the bunch, but I've never found it to be any cornier than other slasher flicks of the era— in fact, I'd put it as a cut above most of them. It's deliciously atmospheric and has an unusual (and surprisingly creepy) villain. It's also one of the few slasher films whose killer(s) AREN'T masked.

I dunno, I just find this film so strangely amusing and, for whatever reasons, super atmospheric.

I love this movie too! I think it's very atmospheric and I love the early 80's vibe. The opening scene with the girls in the theater was very intense. And who can forget the aquarium?? It had lots of little great moments that made you see the characters as "real'' people you didn't want to see get hurt. One of my faves!

Glad I'm not ALONE (no pun intended!) on this. I loved this movie from the first time I saw it— it's one of those movies that I can pop into the DVD player and fall asleep to. It's just a fun watch with a great vibe to it.

Definitely one of my favorite slasher films. I agree about the film being very atmospheric. I really makes me feel like I'm back in the very early 1980's. The movie theater in particular reminds me of my hometown movie theater - the lighting in the lobby and the concession stand in particular. Only thing missing is the Asteroids and Astro Blast arcade games against the wall.

I agree that the setting in the Fall is wonderful and the killer is very creepy - moreso with the crazy eyes and no mask.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.
