Any idea how to find this uncut?

Howdy -

As a bit of a Jonestown obsessive, I've collected all kinds of weird stuff over the years, and while I was glad VCI put out a DVD of this, it is obviously an edited version. This is most noticeable in the scenes where the three boys who get caught stealing the food are punished - there's even an audible shift in the music at one point - and in the scene where the two lovers are forced to atone for their sexual shenanigans.

Tasteless exploitation at its finest; despite its "anything for a buck" sensationalism, I must admit Whitman essays the role surprisingly well, and the final twenty minutes of the movie is pretty much dead on, if you've ever heard the so-called "death tape".

Does anyone know where to locate a truly uncut print of this film? Or even where to view the excised scenes?

Thanks!

I saw this at 11 yr old, the uncut version back in the days when films didn't have film ratings. This deeply disturbed me seeing this type of film. Are you sure you want to see the uncut version? Then again you are most likely an adult and it's 2013 and you have probably seen much worse now not 1979 at 11 yrs old so it probably won't be as bad for you to watch.

YouTube does have the full uncut version, and it does feature much more detailed tortures on the kids who get caught taking food.

Other than that sequence, it seems there are no other differences.

I bought a DVD version entitled "Il Massacro della Guyana" released by Mosaico Media in Italy. It has a red cover with a picture of Rev. Johnson on the cover with his arms upraised. It runs 103 min in PAL format which would make it about 108 min in NTSC. The torture scene is longer and more explicit than the VCI version. The humiliation scene with the young lovers also shows more nudity. Even though the Italian DVD has an English language track, there is a small segment during the young lovers humiliation scene that goes to Italian language presumably because the English portion didn't exist. It's also anamorphic though the quality is still relatively poor. It is better than the VCI edition. It's also region free.
