Mr. Vampire VS Spooky Encounters

Just Wondering if i am the only one who prefers Mr. Vampire to this film.

This is very tricky. Mr. Vampire was much scarier, but Spooky Encounters had better fights and acrobatics. Lam Ching-Ying's role was undoubtedly superior in My. Vampire, but Sammo is a more engaging lead.

The comedy in both was fairly equal, perhaps more sophisiticated in Mr. Vampire. However, Spooky Encounters had one of the most memorable endings ever.

I'll have to go for Spooky Encouters then.

They're both great. Mr. Vampire is probably the better film, but Spooky Encounters has one of the best endings of all time.

Tough call, both are superb films and both have great ending, Mr. Vampire closing without any need for loose ends to be tied or time wasted with rationale, whilst the climax to Encounters of the Spooky Kind is simply brilliant. If pushed, I think I'd favour Encounters of the Spooky Kind, but I wouldn't like to go without either, not to mention Mr. Vampire III which I think is ace.

Which DVD do you have of Mr. Vampire 3? I have a pretty crappy print of it by Deltamac. The subtitles are particularly bad. I wish it would get re-mastered etc...

I find Mr. Vampire to be more funnier but not as scary as Spooky Encounters. Lam Ching-Ying as the Taoist Priest made Mr.V and so I'll go with that one.

I think that objectively Spooky Encounters is a better film, in terms of the fight scenes and the storyline; however, I enjoy Mr. Vampire more, because it is funnier and more surreal, with a faster pace.

Both are usually in top 10s of movies of the genre. Spooky kind of was the trailblazer for it. Mr Vampire was another milestone and took the chinese vampire genre to the next level. Alot of others are quite disappointing after watching these 2.
