Explanation: Who Killed Bambi?

I understand that "Who Killed Bambi?" was originally intended to be a separate (short?) film itself, but I did not understand it at all. Was it at all relevant to the rest of the movie or was it just a quirky scene added for laughs? I thought someone would have asked about this before but I seem to be the only one confused by this.

As far as I can make out, "Who Killed Bambi" was going to be Sex Pistols first movie. It was conceived while the band were still around and I think the script was written by U.S. film critic Roger Ebert and the band requested Russ Meyer direct it.
Things fell apart pretty rapidly with neither Meyer, Mclaren and the Pistols seeing eye to eye and I think there were financial problems as well.
The only scene that Meyer managed to shoot was the deer being shot and dumped on the girls doorstep.
Everything fell apart and when the band split, Mclaren got Julien Temple to cobble together a film using existing footage and new scenes featuring members of the band who were willing to be part of it.
Lots of scenes were filmed, including an appearance from Sting but the movie was brutally cut and re-edited as, like WKBambi, the movie fell apart as money became a problem. (Some of the footage can be seen in "The Filth And The Fury" and "There'll Always Be An England" dvds) and some stills are in TGRRSwindle double LP sleeve.

I'm sure someone with more intimate knowledge can add to this.

Here's the screenplay for Who Killed Bambi (it's pretty bad): http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/04/who_killed_bambi_-_a_screenpla .html
