Why the dub?

Why did they decide to dub English with English on the DVD release? What else was dubbed?

Can anyone provide a sound sample of the original undubbed version?
Any episode with Sandra Prinsloo's real voice in it?

I can definitely hear the difference in her voice in that line. Unfortunately it's too short to see how her real voice sounds like.

All GMBC DVDs released by Columbia Home Ent. worldwide -- I've checked all of them -- offer the same English audio track, the dubbed version.
There's fullscreen Afrikaans DVD but I was unable to find any online stores that willing to ship international.
Don't want to sound pessimistic but I think we lost the original version forever.

you can find actress Sandra Prinsloo on youtube on the SA soap Egoli: Place of gold
the soap features her speaking Afrikans and English
I can understand her English perfectly

Not to get too political, but I lived in RSA at the time. I think changing the accents and making them unconventional really helped to break out of the strictly regimented social structure and made the movie more marketable in RSA and the world I would think. Just my 2cents

I understood that the main reason for the dubbing of the main actress was because her accent would have been unintelligible for a non-South African audience. The dubbed version could play in the U.S., AUstralia, Britain, Canada, etc. without problems.
