Greatest Disaster Movie Came Silent

Virus is the greatest disaster movie I have seen. I find it to be a cinematic masterpiece. What makes it a great story is that it's so real. Only thing is I have never heard of this movie before. I was thinking that it didn't got out in theaters or something I havent seen it in video stores either. Just saw it on a Japanese television station.

I was searching for public domain movies when I came across Virus. I am right now in the middle of watching it and was curious what reviewers at imdb thought of it. You can download the free English version using a bittorrent software (I use uTorrent) at the following website. http://www.publicdomaintorrents.com/nshowmovie.html?movieid=808 They have lots of other old movies there as well, all legally available, no spyware or other junk. I've got "The Last Man on Earth" to watch next, it stars Vincent Price. Utorrent is available at utorrent.com or filehippo.com, I've used it for over a year now and it's good clean software, very simple to use. Hope you enjoy Virus, I sure am!

The movie was shot in 1979 or 80 as a Japanese production. They hired some American stars like Robert Vaughn and George Kennedy to appeal to American audiences. It was a hit in Japan when released in '81 or '82 but the disaster movie cycle had played out in the United States by then. They tried hard to sell it in the States. I recall seeing full-page ads for it in Variety. They could not find an American distributor so it was apparently butchered down to 108 minutes and sold to cable TV. It was based on a Japanese novel which translates to "Resurrection Day". This probably explains why you never heard of it before.
