“A Bay of Blood” is so much better than this crap

Now that’s an original movie that still holds up today.....but this franchise?....ehhh not so much.

Hey everybody! Look! DorianGay is a bonafide cineaste! He referenced an obscure early 70s Italian giallo movie and wants us all to know how much better it is than a hugely popular mass-audience horror franchise!

I for one, am IMPRESSED!

It's pretty well known though that the first wave of American slashers were informed by the giallos, Bava being a top name in the genre. Friday the 13th pt. 2 (I believe) even ripped a scene directly from A Bay of Blood, so it's not exactly obscure or apropos of nothing to bring it up.
I actually agree with the OP somewhat, though the Friday flicks are sort of a guilty pleasure and I enjoy them in a way.

Nah the Friday the 13th series is way more entertaining than A Bay of Blood.

Yeah, this isn't anything special. You hardly hear about anyone praising it apart from some underground cult horror fans and there's a good reason for that.

It's special to those of us who grew up seeing it looming down from the horror section at the video store, then finally rented it or saw it on TV when we were old enough. I can totally see why today's kids would find it boring or meh though.

It’s hard to argue that Bay of Blood is a superior film objectively, but people like what they like.

Also, if you’re going to directly compare the two, Part 2 would be more apt as there are some head-scratching similarities between it and Bay of Blood.

Twitch of The Death Nerve
Bloodbath
Carnage
Snuff Is My Game
Ecology of A Crime

...to name a few!

I really like A Bay of Blood but Friday the 13th is better. A lot more rewatchable, superior atmosphere and ambience.
