That's a good question. I'm not sure why they never returned to the original camp. If I were making a sequel, one of my first inquiries would be whether we could secure the rights to film in the original locations. Heck, I'd love to see a new scene shot in front of the Moravian cemetery where Enos lets Annie out. Last I checked on Google Maps, it was still there.

I used to see quite of comments about how the woods in Part 2 do not look like the woods in Part 1, but not so much anymore.

Huh? Part 2 took place right near the grounds of it. Also it is mentioned in Part 2 that the original camp was shut down and that nobody is to go around there cause of what happened in the first film. Also I thought the lake they were swimming at in the film was Camp Crystal Lake. And while not taking place around the camp, Parts 3 and 4 took place by the lake too. Part 6 also took place in the same area and it is mentioned by the Sheriff in it that they changed the name of the lake and town to shine away from the horrible memories associated with Jason and his mom. Also the lake is in it too.

I admit, Part 7 is supposed to be taking place in the same area but it doesn't look like it since the lake looks more like a small pond unlike Parts 1, 2, and 4. People will argue the body of water next to the farm in Part 3 was Camp Crystal Lake but I argue that it was a pond built on the grounds of the farm. I don't see any evidence in the film that it is connected to the lake. On their way to the farm they don't even go by a lake.

i guess the 2009 reboot tried to show us some locations etc. too bad the film just sucked.

Parts 1 & 2 win in terms of atmosphere.
part 7's background shots were just AWFUL

The original movie was filmed at an active Boy Scout Camp. After the film was released the popularity of that camp soared and it didn't have many "slow" seasons to accommodate them.
