I don't know what song they were singing in the beginning of the movie (1958) but I thought that was kinda strange to have that line sung by camp counselors, usually that's something you hear in church.

We sang that song at school in the 90's.
sharePeople were more religious back in the 50s. Now a days people are anti religion and throw conniption fits if anyone shares their faith in public places especially at schools and camps.
