Is Friday the 13th movie series as good as A Nightmare on Elm Street film series? They are often compared, where I love the Nightmare movies, but shamelessly, I haven't seen one of the Friday the 13th movies. Are they just as cheesey? I love the Nightmare movies because they aren't really fully horrors, they were funny. So should I watch the Friday series?

shareFriday the 13th is awesome. Especially the paramount series, 1-8. It's a fun trip through the 80s.
shareBy all means watch them. I think most of the sequels are lame, and I prefer the Elm Street series, but the first two Fridays are pretty good.
shareI like the friday films much more. Never really liked freddy but some of his films were good. I do remember watching the first nightmare with the chick all over the walls and ceiling thinking wow this really hasn't been done and was fresh. I think because Jason seemed like he could easily be real and freddy seemed so made up he wasn't real to me if that makes any sense.

Unless you were around in the 80's, you may want to steer clear. Most people born from roughly 1995 and after don't appreciate the original, iconic horror flicks of the 70's & 80's.
