Jodie's acting

I actually think this is one of Jodie's best performances. She's always good but man did you see her in that fight scene with her mother? Right after the police station her and her mother have that huge fight and she's crying and yelling at her blurting out all her issues and her face is red. I think that is one of the best acting moments from her I've ever seen. Just wow. So raw and intense yet so real. She's such a good actress.

I agree. Jodie Foster gives one of her best and most underrated performances ever in this film. I thought the poetic closing monologue Jodie delivers in voiceover at the very end was especially touching and beautiful.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

Adrien Lyne said that Jodie had trouble crying for that scene, and he had to work with her for a long time to get her to cry.
