Sound mixing / editing / levels

Are there any others out there who think that the music tends to be overly oppressive and loud in a lot of Carpenter films/projects? Nothing serious just maybe 10% to loud, the worst is in Halloween III when Tom Atkins is running around the town and the music becomes ear piercingly loud. I noticed it a little so far in The Fog, when they are transitioning the music around and it starts playing strangely loud.
I'll have to keep an eye out for it in his other films as I go through them but I didn't notice it much in Prince Of Darkness, not enough to stand out at least.

Trust no one.

I am not sure of your movie viewing setup but this also sounds like whatever you are using ( assuming not a 5.1 setup) is not properly down mixing the 5.1 audio track most of these dvd and blus have, which is why the levels seem off

On the other hand if you are watching the film with a 5.1 mix and the disc has a stereo or mono track give that option a try and see if it fixes anything
