To gay fans of "The Fog"

Always keen to unearth subtle (and not so subtle) subtext in films, what about the three fishermen on the Seagrass? Here we have a couple of "bears" and a younger "otter" type, all out at sea getting drunk and trying to forget their womenfolk. I wonder....

reply

LOL, I honestly didn't get any vibe from them, either as a group or individually. Moreoever, the one by the window seemed to be very excited by Barbeau's voice on the radio, and the other two kind of the same.

The OP does the same gay shtick on the Salem's Lot board too.

reply

Yeah, I did not get a vibe either. The writers established the three fisherman's sexuality with their talk of Stevie Wayne. But one can fantasize. ;-)

reply

Tut. You lot just aren't looking hard enough.

reply

You're just looking for something that isn't there. OMG, three men hanging together, they must be gay! 👀

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

but....those Fog-Bears only want your acceptance.

Since John Carpenter turned down an opportunity to direct TOP GUN-86', due to it's "homoerotic" screenplay, I would say that he didn't want his fog fishermen to be gay. I doubt the thought even crossed his mind.

reply

what a surprise...you posted the same nonsense on the Salem's Lot board.

reply

closet case.

I'm gay and I've seen this movie around 40 times and I've never once picked up on any kind of gay vibe during this scene. I am watching it right now, as a matter of fact, and nope. The 3 men seem like they'd be fun, but not that much fun!

reply

Exactimo, Mr H! That fishy smell that they would constantly exude, wouldn't just be from the days catch. They would have been into women, more than each other. 😊

I just can't help my naughtiness sometimes Nan. I know it is a comment that could appear insulting and sexist to women; but it was in jest and thanks for seeing it that way Nan.

Not at all. Similarly, in Friday the 13th Part 5, apparently people have picked up on gay undertones between the two leather-jacket punks that are in one scene before getting killed off, despite the fact that they talk about hooking up with chicks during that one scene. I don't get it.

Now Nightmare on Elm Street 2 and Troll 2, there's definitely some gay *beep* going on in those movies.

reply

Maybe Father Malone and Bennet were at it. What about Kathy Williams and sandy?

reply

I just watched that Jason and didn’t pick up on anything except if I was casting director I’d have switched their roles. The one with the bitchy face is not the bitchy one.

you wonder too much.

Should say on title "To the ones that want gays to be on The Fog." I see nothing indicating that and I am not gay. So someone is getting excited over nothing.

Rated R Horror movies are better, no matter the argument.
