What a crummy radio station

She has terrible taste in music. And her station only broadcasts from 6pm to 1am? She's not going to be in business long.

reply

The producers used generic light jazz because rock music would have been too expensive. But the radio station is definitely not as cool as Clint Eastwood's station in Play Misty For Me.

reply

I know you are not here to reply OP, but what are you talking about?

The music was really good, and gave the film a classic ambience and style that I thought was very cool.

reply

I agree. That soft jazz might be nothing I would ever want to listen to myself, but it works in the movie especially accompanied by Adrienne Barbeau's sultry voice.

reply

Absolutely, it works well. It's funny that the reply below the OP said: "But the radio station is definitely not as cool as Clint Eastwood's station in Play Misty For Me." When it facts it is.

I rather like that lighthouse radio station! Play Misty's looked cramped and confining, though Eastwood being the jazz enthusiast that he is, played a whole helluva lot better music!

reply

Who cares about the music I was staring at her tits.

reply

It was a radio station, not television...

reply

The music was great.

reply

I agree, I loved the music!!

Her shift is from 6PM to 1 AM. Who's to say there aren't other DJ's on duty.

reply

She does make a comment to the weather man though at some point about being the only one working there, if I recall correctly.

My guess is she has a bunch of stuff pre-recorded to be playing when she's not there.

reply

I thought she said she's the only one working there at that time. That's one of the reasons she couldn't leave to check on her son before the fog ghosts cut her off from the town.

reply

Yeah I always thought that too... the location of the station seemed to indicate that the station was set up primarily for boaters/sailors/fishermen. I don't there are a lot of late night fisherman groups listening to that type of music. And, while some find that type of music relaxing, there's a reason not many of these types of stations exist nationwide...and that's because they are not very popular to the general public. I can't imagine this station staying in business with classical music to fisherman from the hours of 6:00PM to 1:00AM! They (the producers of the movie) obviously just couldn't afford the music.

Oh boy...
