Why does Kala order Zarkov to receive Level 6?

Especially right after Cletus, whoops, Klytus just ordered "no higher than Level 3"? What's going on here? They didn't refer to this again during the movie. I assume that giving Zarkov Level 6 gave him a much more complete knowledge of their tech, the layout of the palace, etc.

What do you think?

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

According to the script, Kala and Klytus were competing for Ming's favour, so this was Kala's way of giving Klytus (who is really a sycophant and a yes-man) the middle finger - Kala is ruthless and effective, while Klytus is provocative and sycophantic.

She wanted his mind drained completely, then reprogrammed completely so he would be a perfect agent for the Emperor. Proceeding to such a high level was her way of assuring that. She risked destroying his mind to acheive her goal.

Kala was trying to win favor. Her role was actually played perfectly, I think.

When she orders them to charge the lightning field and fire on War Rocket Ajax, she stops on the stairs--hands on hips-- and "takes full responsibility, in the Emperors name!" Classic. Egoist to the end.

Kala knew the human mind, particularly zarkov, could accommodate level 6. Keytus underestimated earthlings and zarkof. Kala was insidious and in the passive aggressive moment of the century, pretends to agree with klytus's assessment, then in to prove his unparalleled underesstimation, orders exactly double maximum ordered level.

reply

Kala was trying to undermine Klytus authority.
