I just watched it and....
Wow! One of the worst movies I've ever seen. What a disappointment.
I've always been a fan of Fred Williamson. When I saw this movie on Blockbuster.com I had to rent it. It was billed as a movie with Fred and Bruce Lee for Gosh Sake!!!
Clocking in right at one hour and twenty minutes, it's a movie about nothing. I couldn't tell if it was meant to be a real documentary or a mockumentary at times. Then I wondered if the lame short fight at the end from Madison Square Garden was real or fake.
I was hoping Fred Williamson was going to be a part of the tournament and fight somehow but all he did was sit at ringside then he did an interview later. Didn't step one foot in the ring.
I'm not sure if this got a big screen release or if it appeared on pay cable back in the day, but I would have felt highly ripped off paying to go see it.
They sung Bruce Lee's praises but all they did was disrespect him and marketed it to make money off him.
They showed "interviews" of Lee from years ago that were just over dubbed to make it look like he was talking with stars of this movie. The classless one was where he was "talking" to the fight promoter (a guy who looked like he was reading cue cards) "telling" this guy how great he was to the sport with his promoting.
To me the main star of this movie was the narrator and announcer, Adolph Ceasar. I kept laughing to myself because I've been a pro wrestling fan and he sounded just like Gordon Solie. Hell, as much as a rip off as this movie was, maybe this guy WAS ripping off Solie's announcing style too!
