How Is This NOT A Sequel To "Contract On Cherry Street"?!?
I mean, in both, he's a New York City police inspector near retirement, FFS ....
What gives?

They're entirely unrelated stories, although Sinatra wanted to make good cop films and achieved this with The Detective, Contract on Cherry Street and The First Deadly Sin. He played New York cops in all three, so there is a common thread and some of the expected procedural tropes present in all three. But go a step further, to the 1987 episode of Magnum P.I. called Laura, in which Sinatra guest starred as a retired cop turned vigilante.
NOW TARZAN MAKE WAR!
