Lush with forest and Force energy, Dagobah was perfect for Yoda to hide. As well as concealing himself, it gave him a place to commune with the Force.
That makes sense.
shareHe also chose that place because it was so saturated with Force energy that he would blend into the place. Even if Vader tried looking for him in that swamp, he wouldn't be able to sense Yoda due to all the background "noise" the Force energy of the planet would be giving off. It's probably a remote planet too, in a part of space that isn't heavily traveled and has little in the way of civilization.
