Lightsaber plot hole

Ok so we seen lightsabers cut thru walls, droids, people, etc. But when Luke is fighting Vader at the end he strikes him in the shoulder and all we get is a spark and a grunt from Vader? But literally the next scene Vader hits Luke with a similar strike and chops his hand off???

reply

Vader is wearing body armour for that exact situation, as he fights a lot of Jedi in his role as Sith Lord. It was also only a glancing blow.

"He's dusted, busted and disgusted, but he's ok"

reply

It wasn't a glancing blow. Luke swung his saber straight into Vader's upper arm like a baseball bat. That's how strong Vader's armor was.

I'm just on my way up to Clavius.

If this happened in the PT the answer would be because they dont swing hard and any explanation about his armor isnt in the movies so it doesnt count

reply

It doesnt have to be explained in the movie, it's a plausible explanation and therefore makes it not a plot hole. A plot hole is only a plot hole where there's absolutely nothing that would reasonably explain something

reply

Yes and it drives me crazy when users here misuse the term plot hole

😂

Vader can afford enough beskar steel to cover his entire body!
