Readers on here ruined this movie

Recently I got my young son into watching these films. But because of all the posters on here, my son already knew the darth vadar father plot twist. So thank you all for ruining this movie for my 9 year old

reply

Find a 9 year old out there that doesn't know the twist. And what kind of parent lets their child browse a site filled with flat earthers, climate change deniers, and the worst of the worst from both sides of the political spectrum.

reply

Flerfers are complete morons, but I don't come on MOVIEchat to discuss POLITICS.

reply

Me neither, but sadly that is what this site has become. It's what comes with the freedom of speech this site provides, nutters who get booted from every other platform come here in droves.

reply

The only people that didnt know were people who went to the first showing opening day in 1980.

Wrong clip, mitzibishi.

reply

got it

reply

Big fucking deal. I already knew the big Vader plot twist because I watched Return of the Jedi, after A New Hope, and LONG before I even SAW Empire Strikes Back. Didn't spoil my enjoyment one bit.

Why are you even showing your son these aged movies that no-one else in his future peer group will even consider canon?

reply

He's showing his son movies that mean something to him and they will share that bond over a shared love of a piece of art and pop culture.

reply

I think you left out a little t in there somewhere.

reply

Pop tart culture?

reply

"He's showing his son movies that meanT something to him and they will share that bond over a shared love of a piece of art and pop culture."

Because I sincerely doubt that the OT means much to him now. How can it?

reply

It's still awesome and no amount of prequels or sequels or special editions will tarnish that legacy. It hasn't for me. Why should it for him?

They're still amazing pieces of pop tart culture.

reply

Not even the Special Edition additions to them? That turned them off for MOST, from what I heard.

reply

I've got the originals. So I don't care.

reply

Psst. The Despecialized Editions are NOT the originals. And if you somehow have them on VHS, GET with the fucking TIMES, MAN! VHS is a DEAD format! And so is Laserdisc! (laughs raucously at Ace_Spade)

reply

I got the DVDs that have the original theatrical releases as a bonus disc. It's not the despecialized, it's the theatrical release. It's letterboxed, but it just means I'm watching it like it's on a slightly smaller TV. That's not a problem.

reply

I had that version once, it was utter crap. No wonder people were pissed.

reply

Maybe we had different versions then; mine's fine.

reply

Show him Star Trek II...I bet he doesn't know that Spock died in the that one.

reply

Oh, great! Now that guy's kid knows about Spock, too! Why don't you just tell him Boromir and Gandalf die in the Fellowship of the Ring!

Are you trolling to start a fight or something. You know this site is out there, he is a minor, you are responsible for his internet.

reply

I've said this before. Insisting that people don't talk about details of films months and years after they are released is ridiculous. Its polite to say if a topic or post has spoilers, but after a time that becomes unnecessary.

Would you complain that a literary site openly posts that Romeo and Juliet die at the end?

My personal line is six months. I can understand up to a year. Beyond that it is your responsibility to avoid sites and postings that might reveal details. If you want to share films with your son, which I think is a great idea, then block movie sites and other sites that might spill the beans.

Though, with a plot line this famous, that is likely to be impossible.

reply

6 months ?????? I dont even see any film till it appears on streaming etc
You might have found a reason for me to use the ignore list for the first time ever - thats just nuts! You go around yelling out spoliers for films , just because you've seen them and they aere over 6 months old?
Have you checked the Geneva convention? i think you're contravening it

Due to the constant stream of superhero drivel coming out of the asshole of hollywood currently, i prefer to hunt for older films i missed out on, or never got round to.

I'll take your 6 months and raise you 30 years and complete cultural common knowledge.
I think theres various levels of care and safety that can be taken over spoliers.
The worst offence being to put them right there in the title of a thread so the victim is fked just by reviewing a list of topics.

reply

Grow up. The universe doesn’t revolve around you.

reply

R-Kane is correct. Everything doesn't revolve around you. I don't have to twist myself in a knot to avoid possibly revealing a spoiler.

If you are that sensitive to them it is your responsibility to avoid them. The rest of the world would like to discuss films. We don't have to wait until "complete cultural common knowledge" is achieved. For the vast majority of films that will never happen.

Six months is reasonable. A year could be reasonably argued to try to avoid revealing spoilers. Nothing more.

reply

STFU....its not our fault you cant control your 9 year old. You idiot...πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„
