Dagobah continuity error

Been watching this film for nearly forty years but only just realised there's a blatant continuity error staring us right in the face. I've watched the scene countless but only now does it occur to me "Whaaaaat?"

It's the scene where Yoda pulls the X-Wing out of the swamp. He, Luke and R2 are all sitting in a clearing that's right by the swamp. After Luke fails, he skulks off to the edge of the clearing and then Yoda does his thing. He's stood right in the middle of the clearing, which is where the X-Wing will eventually settle, and begins raising the ship. It lifts out of the water and moves toward the clearing where Yoda stands alone. But somehow, when the ship arrives there, Yoda is halfway up an old tree stump or mangrove clump. Not on the spot he was a second ago and where the ship now stands.

The thing is I always noticed that Luke has to go over to a different spot where Yoda is at eye level to deliver the "I don't believe it" line and knew that Yoda had been stood where the ship is before it was lifted out of the swamp. But never until now thought there was anything odd.

Not earth shattering I know. And definitely not a "not in real time so of course he could have moved off screen" misread of the sequence. Countless others will have noticed this decades ago. But it just goes to show. You often just see what you want to see.

Funny. I never noticed it either.

I think what happened is that after Yoda raised the ship straight up, he also made himself levitate slightly and then he rotated the entire planet underneath himself and the x-wing. Showoff!

Matter transfer of his body from one location to another through the Force, just like we've seen in Clone Wars, Rebels, and the new movies.

ESB Revisited fixes this error.
