papillomatous growths

Nearly all of his lesions are papillomatous (warts) which are now easily removed by the use of acids, freezing or burning. I wonder what the treatment would have been in late Victorian London. I also wonder how much of these growths were attributed to his living conditions rather than from his born affliction(s)?
