Just because it's a pro-gay movie doesn't mean it was good.

Seriously, nowadays, this overly sensitive society wants to rate gay movies high just to SUPPORT them. Which is wrong.

I agree with you. This movie sucked as do so many gay movies. Many get unrealistic acclaim just because they are alternative which is wrong, unwanted!

Just because a film is pro gay doesn't mean it's good. Yes, I agree with you. I don't think ANY film is considered good based only on that criteria. My question is why would you say this? Who is disagreeing with you?
I think if people say the film is good it's because they actually LIKED it. I wouldn't read into it too much.
Personally I give the film props for being courageous in its subject matter. But the execution is downright bad. Bad acting, bad writing and bad direction.

Fair enough to say you don't like the movie. Some people like chocolate ice cream; some people like strawberry ice cream. But just because you don't like something doesn't mean it is bad or that no one else should like it.

First let's add context, the movie was made in 1978 and on a pretty low budget. Consequently is is not going to have big Hollywood production values. There are some people whose taste in movies simply does not extend beyond Hollywood Blockbusters, but those of use who like this movie are people who generally like independent film. For myself, and generally speaking, Hollywood Blockbusters are the movies I'm LEAST interested in.

So ...fine... you get to like the movie or not like the movie, and you get to say why. What you do not get to do is tell the rest of us we are wrong for liking it. You get your opinion, and we get ours; and you do not get to dictate reality to the rest of us.

I've seen this movie probably approaching 6 times, though across the span of many years and originally on VHS, I've enjoyed it every time. But then ... I enjoy somewhat obscure independent films. I recently bought it on DVD because I liked it so much.

You get to not like it, that's fine, but you do not get to tell use we can't like it when we do.

Also, while the movies is of gay interest, I'm not sure it is a Pro-Gay movie. It is simply the coming of age of specific individuals, individuals who are two boys who are momentarily infatuated with each other. We don't even know for sure if they are gay. But the underlying theme of the movie in this tiny slice of life implies that they are for the moment infatuated.
